Head-on crash results in assault charges

A New Jersey motorist has been criminally charged with assault in connection with an accident that took place in early July. Reckless driving and careless driving, along with failure to maintain his lane, were additional charges leveled in association with the incident, according to authorities on Aug. 2. The Somerset resident struck an eastbound car when he crossed a double-yellow line on Ridge Road in South Brunswick. Head-on car accidents can be serious, and in this case, the motorist's passenger was in the hospital for five days. The driver of the other vehicle also suffered injuries.

Family says Medical malpractice turned toe infection deadly

New Jersey patients might be interested to hear that a 33-year-old man who visited a clinic because of a toe infection ended up dead because of the incompetence of the medical facility's personnel, according to a lawsuit that led to an award of $2.5 million. The family and fiancee of the man, who worked as a forklift driver, claimed medical malpractice in the 2011 death, which occurred after the man had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic prescribed for the infection.

One killed, one injured in Newark motorcycle accident

A Cape May man was taken to the hospital following a mid afternoon accident that occurred when a Suzuki motorcycle slammed head-on into a 2001 Honda. The auto accident, which occurred on Grove Street in Newark, is still under investigation by local police. The man riding the motorcycle died at the scene.

Study of nerve block errors shows room for physician improvement

A 10 year study of misplaced nerve blocks has shown that, while they are not as disastrous as wrong-site surgeries, they are much more common. The study also found that when policies are instituted and followed through by surgical teams, many of these wrong-site nerve blocks can be prevented.

Man dies in fatal New Jersey accident

A 37-year-old man from Fairless Hills died early on August 2 after he was involved in a car accident on northbound Route 1 close to the Blackhorse Lane intersection in South Brunswick, New Jersey. The 37-year-old man had reportedly been driving a 2011 Nissan Versa when a 56-year-old man who was driving a tractor-trailer failed to stop and crashed into the rear of him.

Two-car accident in New Jersey causes serious injury

New Jersey police report that a driver has been seriously injured after his Camaro was struck near Route 46. The vehicle crashed into a telephone poll after the impact forced it off the road, and its passenger was transported to the Morristown Medical Center. The cause of the car accident has not been released.

Car crashes into transit bus in New Jersey

Police officers report that a car made an illegal turn in Camden, New Jersey, crashing into a Route 400 transit bus. The car was left completely totaled, and the driver of the car was injured and taken to a hospital, but his injuries are reportedly not serious. One of the passengers on the bus was also treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Stow Creek pickup driver kills lone pedestrian

According to a statement made by a New Jersey State Police official, a man who was traveling the road on foot one night in March was hit by a passing motorist. The struck pedestrian was walking along an unspecified Cumberland County road in Stow Creek Township when the pickup truck hit him while traveling along the same stretch. Although the driver of the pickup truck was uninjured in the incident, the individual he collided with died. The victim of this incident has not been publicly identified, and according to police, the driver who hit him remained in the area until the police arrived. According to KYW-TV, this is the second in a pair of pedestrian accidents that have occurred in the county recently. The previous day, a New Jersey Transit bus ran over a 54-year-old female pedestrian in Bridgeton.
