The 25-year-old student was in Brooklyn to attend a celebration for the upcoming wedding of one of his friends. However, while walking in the Crown Heights area Sunday morning shortly after 9:00 a.m., the man was hit by a New York sanitation truck.
In New Jersey, a 35 year-old man was involved in a fatal pedestrian accident when he was struck by a car while crossing the street and was later pronounced dead at an area hospital. The man attempted to cross Grove Avenue at Christol Street near the Metuchen High School when he was hit by the car.
A woman who formerly served as a lifeguard on two Sea Isle City beaches was involved in an accident as she went from one work location to the other. In the summer of 2009, she struck a woman who was crossing the street, leaving the pedestrian with permanent injuries. The struck woman subsequently filed a federal negligence suit against the lifeguard and her family. In her suit, she sought compensation, legal fees and interest.
New Jersey police report that a driver has been seriously injured after his Camaro was struck near Route 46. The vehicle crashed into a telephone poll after the impact forced it off the road, and its passenger was transported to the Morristown Medical Center. The cause of the car accident has not been released.
A New Jersey man has been charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and driving with a suspended license, among other charges.
