Alcohol a factor in a fatal crash in New Jersey

Drivers from all over the nation venture to New Jersey and New York for business or pleasure. While these motorists are not from the area, what remains true is the fact that they have the duty to drive safe in every state they travel through or in. Being negligent or reckless behind the wheel could cause a sudden, serious or catastrophic collision, injuring or killing those involved.

This is what recently occurred in Readington when a man from Connecticut was driving on Route 202. According to recent reports, a two-vehicle collision happened in the afternoon hours on Route 202 going northbound. Police officers believe that the crash happened when the Connecticut man traveling in a Chevy pickup truck crashed into the rear of a Volkswagen GTI driven by a 57-year-old man from New Jersey.

Emergency crews responded, and the New Jersey man was transported to the hospital for serious injuries. He was later pronounced dead. The driver of the other vehicle did not suffer any injuries in the crash. Authorities believe that the Connecticut man was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. He was later arrested and charged with vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and reckless driving.

When motorists are negligent, this could put the lives of many at risk. It only takes a second for an accident to occur, causing a lifetime of hurt for those grieving the loss of a loved one. In these matters, family members could file a wrongful death suit. This legal action not only helps place liability on a driver but also helps them recover compensation for losses and damages.
