One killed, one injured in Newark motorcycle accident

A Cape May man was taken to the hospital following a mid afternoon accident that occurred when a Suzuki motorcycle slammed head-on into a 2001 Honda. The auto accident, which occurred on Grove Street in Newark, is still under investigation by local police. The man riding the motorcycle died at the scene.

Because the Essex County major crimes unit, along with Newark city police, is doing a thorough investigation of this vehicle crash, implications are that charges may yet result. However, current reports do not give any indication of which driver may have been at fault or whether additional factors such as negligence or driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs was involved. The uncertainty of who was at fault has particular implications for the driver of the Honda, who had to be treated in a local hospital for unspecified injuries.

Until the accident investigation is completed, the injured driver who survived the crash will need to proceed with caution regarding any possible lawsuits resulting from the crash between these two vehicles. The situation underscores the need for possible plaintiffs in similar situations to bide their time and wait until investigations are concluded before taking legal action.

Potential plaintiffs may wish to meet with experienced personal injury lawyers in Essex County to discuss procedures in a potential injury situation prior to completion of police reports. Attorneys knowledgeable about New Jersey's laws may be able to prepare plaintiffs for the best possible course of action to secure payments for medical expenses, daily living and pain and suffering once law enforcement officials render a clear report.
