Pedestrian accident with bus sends 8 to hospital in New Jersey

New Jersey residents likely realize the dangers when crossing the street or doing anything else as a pedestrian. Given the way certain drivers drive and the distracting behaviors many take part in, accidents can happen with a pedestrian and cause serious injuries and even death.

However, there are times when pedestrian accidents seemingly come without warning at a place where those who are not afforded the protection of a motor vehicle will still feel safe. When there is a pedestrian accident of any kind, it is important to understand what can result and to speak to an attorney about being compensated.

A New Jersey bus crashed into a bus shelter and injured eight people at a busy intersection. The accident happened at shortly after 9:30 a.m. in tNewark shopping district. Eight people were injured in the crash. When the bus hit the shelter, the shelter itself collapsed. The injuries were to five women and two men who were waiting at the bus stop, as well as to the driver of the bus. According to the driver, the bus suffered a mechanical problem and he lost control of it. The case is still under investigation. The people who were hit were said to have had minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.

Being hit by a motor vehicle as a pedestrian can be a traumatic event. It can cause physical and emotional problems to the victim. If there are injuries, the person will need to be hospitalized, might require surgery, could be confronted with the need to have rehabilitative care, and might not be able to return to normal in a timely fashion, if at all. When a person is hit by a motor vehicle, there is also a significant chance of a fatality. This will leave the person's family and loved ones without him or her and all the contributions that were made in a personal and financial sense. Given all the negative issues that can come from a pedestrian accident, knowing how to pursue a legal case is imperative.

In this incident, people were waiting at a bus shelter when they were hit by an approaching bus. Although the initial reports assert that the injuries to the eight people - seven of whom were waiting for the bus - are minor, there are times when the true aftereffects of an accident do not show themselves immediately. Those who were hit should make sure to take the necessary steps to file a legal claim to be compensated for this incident.
