Child on life support the center of a lawsuit in New Jersey

The family of a little girl who has allegedly passed away but is being kept on life support has filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against the hospital involved in the case. According to the child's parents, the hospital pressured them for her organs while they were mourning her death. As a parent, making the decision to take a brain-dead child off life support is hard enough, but then being pressured to allow your child to go through more medical trauma after death can be heartbreaking to you as you mourn.

The family of this young girl, a 13-year-old child who suffered severe brain damage after having surgery in a California hospital, has moved to New Jersey and have decided to file the lawsuit against the hospital in California over their treatment. They had fought to keep her on life support, but they allegedly battled with doctors who were not supportive of the family in their time of need. The lawsuit claims one doctor went as far as to question if the family understood that their daughter was dead.

The child went through a surgery for sleep apnea, but the surgery was botched. She nearly bled to death, and her heart stopped while the doctors worked to save her. The lack of oxygen and trauma left her brain dead, according to the Californian hospital.

While the California hospital and reports define the child as dead, it's important to realize that she has been declared as not brain dead by four physicians and is still on life support. She is currently being treated in New Jersey, which allows brain dead patients to receive care.
