New Jersey Turnpike accident critically injures Tracy Morgan

Anytime you are driving on the New Jersey Turnpike, there are sure to be others doing the same. Even if you are rested and obeying the rules of the road, you never know how other drivers are feeling

A recent multi-vehicle accident on the New Jersey Turnpike left comedian Tracy Morgan with critical injuries. Additionally, James McNair, a well-known 63-year-old comedy writer, was killed.

According to a police investigation, a Wal-Mart truck failed to recognize slow moving traffic on the roadway, thus crashing into the back of the limo bus. As a result, the limo bus, carrying both Morgan and McNair, collided with several other vehicles including another truck, two cars and an SUV.

Following the accident, a representative for Morgan said, "His family is now with him and he is receiving excellent care. We don't anticipate much of a change in his condition today but will provide a further update once more information becomes available."

In addition to Morgan, his assistant and another comedian were also injured in the accident and hospitalized for treatment.

These types of fatal accidents are too common. In this case, had the driver of the truck been more alert, he may have been able to slow down before reaching the traffic ahead of his vehicle. By neglecting to do so, he put himself, as well as many others in harm's way. Unfortunately, this accident caused more than damage to the vehicles involved, as one man was killed and many others were injured. For the time being, police continue to investigate the finer details of the accident.
