Man injured in New Jersey pedestrian accident

Even when pedestrians are as careful as possible, there is always the chance that they could be struck by a motor vehicle. In the event that this happens, the end result can be devastating.

Recently, a 22-year-old man was taken to University Hospital in Newark after being hit by a car at approximately 10 p.m. According to reports, police responded to the accident at St. Georges and West Scott avenues. At this time, they found that a Honda CR-V struck a pedestrian. The initial investigation found that the man was hit as he attempted to cross the street.

Local police noted that the 64-year-old driver of the vehicle called the police about the accident, but did not stop at the scene. The man who was hit suffered serious injuries to his legs, pelvic region, chest, and head to go along with other internal injuries. After first being treated at the scene, he was taken to the hospital for additional treatment. As a result of the accident, St. Georges Avenue was closed down for approximately four hours while police investigated.

Pedestrian accidents can happen at any time in New Jersey or elsewhere in the country. In this case, a man was attempting to cross the street when he was hit by an SUV. There is no additional information available at this time, but this story shows just how dangerous the roads can be. Although nobody died, the man who was struck suffered serious injuries and is being treated at a local hospital for injuries sustained in this pedestrian accident. If liability is found then the at-fault party deserves to foot the medical bills for this victim.
