New Jersey city may fight injured pedestrian

A woman who formerly served as a lifeguard on two Sea Isle City beaches was involved in an accident as she went from one work location to the other. In the summer of 2009, she struck a woman who was crossing the street, leaving the pedestrian with permanent injuries. The struck woman subsequently filed a federal negligence suit against the lifeguard and her family. In her suit, she sought compensation, legal fees and interest.

New Jersey man loses leg following accident

According to a news report, a 26-year-old Jersey City man lost one of his legs as a result of a truck crash on Sept. 18. The accident occurred after 6:40 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike near mile marker 1.8. Because of a construction project at the Carney's Point toll plaza in Salem County, the turnpike's left lane was closed, forcing traffic to merge to the right.

The woman, who drove a Volkswagen Jetta, was in a small accident and stopped by the side of the road, according to the prosecutor's office. She and the other driver, a 49-year-old from Cherry Hill, were waiting between their two vehicles. A third vehicle rear-ended the Jetta in the second car accident, killing the woman at the scene. However, another report indicated that she was hit by the third vehicle, a Dodge Ram truck, as she left her car.
