Woman dies when car bursts into flames after two-vehicle accident

A 38-year-old New Jersey woman died after her car was rear-ended on the Garden State Parkway. According to the report, the fatal car crash occurred when the woman had stopped her vehicle in the center lane. A Mercedes, driven by a 22-year-old, struck her vehicle from behind, causing it to catch fire.

Witnesses pulled the woman out of the burning vehicle and attempted to resuscitate her. However, she was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital due to multiple injuries. The driver was also taken to a hospital as a precaution. The report did not include whether the investigation is still ongoing or if any charges will be filed.

When a loved one dies suddenly, the surviving family members may be emotionally and financially distressed. In many cases, they may choose not to immediately initiate legal action against the driver who caused the accident. However, depending on the state, wrongful death claims must be filed by the family members or beneficiaries in a timely fashion in order to obtain monetary compensation. While this cannot bring back a loved one who has passed away, the compensation may be able to ease the family's financial burden by providing compensation for medical expenses, funeral costs, lost benefits, lost inheritance, loss of companionship, punitive damages and pain and suffering on behalf of the family.

A New Jersey attorney who specializes in wrongful death litigation may be able to help the family by providing them with legal advice. In order to maximize the amount of compensation that the family may receive, the attorney may present expert witnesses to establish the value of the lost life. In addition, the attorney may be able to prove that the accused driver was liable for the accident by using accident reconstruction methods and witness testimony.
